I've had oily skin for as long as I can remember and I've tried several products claiming to control shine and oil. And this one has got to be the worst performing yet. In fact, I think the Nivea for Men Dual Cleanser ( I think that's the name) does better at controlling oil than this dedicated oil control cleanser. I'm using it in conjunction with the lotion which doesn't help much either, if at all.
I'm going to finish up the supply as fast as I can and move on to something else. The oil control cleaner from Neutrogena works more effectively than this, however it does dry your skin more so pick your poison.


As someone who's skin develops a strong shine by mid-afternoon I was hoping this product would be my salvation and spare me several trips to the men's room sink. Instead I developed severe breakouts during the two weeks or so I used this product, the first time that has ever happened. the breakouts cleared shortly after switching to another product and no other face wash had made me break out before or since.

That said, I do recommend the balancing lotion. It contains little sunscreen though it has a pleasant scent and I found it to be quite effective.


My husband likes it. I used to buy it from Walgreen's store but couldn't find the ones for oily skin long time ago. The delivery was fast.


I've dealt with oily skin most of my life and have tried a ton of products. This Nivea Oil Control Face Wash is the best product to remove oil from my face. It is soothing to my skin and doesn't dry my skin out like other oil control products. I use this product in conjuntion with the Nivea Oil Control lotion (a little goes a long way) and the two help to not only control the oil build up on my face but helps me prevent acne breakouts. It works for me and it might work for you too!


I just use it out of habit, honestly. It smells nice and works with the lotion. It does not do a lot of oil control, if you ask me, but my skin is not oily.
I can recommend it as it does not dry out your skin and is ideal for the cold winters here in CO.

This product is great. I am not the type to clean my face with anything other than when I shower in the morning, using normal bath soap. I am stationed in Afghanistan and the air here in Kabul is full of "stuff". I ordered the stuff to try to minimize what the air and dirt was doing to my face. I cleans extremely well, including pores, and leaves my face tingling as if I had just had a facial. I look forward to cleaning my face with the Nivea 3 times a week. I will continue using it after my little adventure here is done.


I really like that the scrubbing particles in this product are fine and concentrated. It has a mild, manly scent too. I wish it left my face feeling more tingly, but maybe that will be in the "new and improved" version.

The nivea for Men Double Action Face Wash is specially formulated to clear away dirt without drying out the skin. It also removes excess oils that can lead to clogged pores.

This refreshing and mild foaming gel is 100-percent soap-free and enriched with vitamins, moisturizing and conditioning agents, and Provitamin B5 to actually improve the condition of the skin. After using this moisture-rich formula, skin is left feeling cleansed, refreshed and soft. Dermatologically tested.

She just couldn't stand it that I was using---soap! to wash my face. This stuff actually may be a little less drying than plain old soap, so that's good. I need all the help I can get in that respect. A little dab'll do ya.


I didn't know what to do about my neck, it was embarrasing. It looked like it was "painful" some folks said. I constantly got ingrown hairs and pimples on my neck. I didn't know what to do. I tried medicated aftershaves, some with alcohol in them OUCH!

Finally I started doing some research and found that a good cleanser might help me out, so I decided to try this nivea, I had seen commercials for it. I used the cleanser and the balm (aka aftershave). I also made sure that I was doing my best to help the situation by switching my shaving technique. Most importantly shave with the direction your hair grows, not against it, that reduces the inflammation. Rinse with cool water not hot, this also reduces the inflammation. Use a cleanser, I recommend nivea, and a decent aftershave lotion, again I recommend nivea.

Within a week or so my neck dramatically improved, it isn't perfect, but it looks and feels much better.


I bought this product after comparing it to l'Oreal for Men and one or two other competitors. I felt that the amount you get for the price was generous. I find it to be an invigorating alternative to bar soap for cleansing the face.


One of the best face cleansers for men's skin. Leaves skin clean and refreshed with no soapy residue. Best value for the dollar and compares well with higher priced face cleansers. Highly recommend!


This is a great product, providing a great cleansing of the skin and leaves a long-lasting healthy skin feeling. Definitely worth using on a regular basis. I love it.

This shine-control lotion is specially formulated for men to combat oily skin. The nivea for Men Oil Control Lotion contains special mattifying ingredients that absorb oil and reduce shine. The ultra-light lotion is quickly absorbed, leaving the skin cool, refreshed and healthy looking all day long. Oil-free, it won't clog pores. Vitamin enriched and with marine plant extracts to help improve the condition of the skin. Dermatologist tested.

This stuff is terrible. Yeah it makes my skin smell nice and it does dry my skin after I use it, but a couple hours later, my skin is more oily than ever. I broke out like crazy using this stuff. I now have 3 and a half bottles of this lotion that I do not know what to do with...

The second star is because it can be useful when I'm not near water to wash my face and I want my face to be oil-free for a couple hours. I just have to make sure to wash my face immediately once the stuff wears off.


I love this product. It's what I use before I go out for nighttime fun such as a date or club. Be forewarned, it lacks sunscreen which is likely why it doesn't go on greasy however it does do what it advertises.

This stuff is amazing. It absorbs into your skin really fast. The product is a cream but it almost seems to have a powder in it that just eats up oil, but your face gets moisturized at the same time... and your face doesn't feel greasy at all afterward.

It's awesome!


I have tried both the "Skin Essentials" (dark blue) and "Sensitive" (white) Nivea for Men face lotions. Neither of them can compare with the Oil Control lotion.

This face lotion is very smooth and light out of the bottle. It is not thick and viscous like the other two mentioned above, so applying it on the face is very, very easy. The bonus is that it leaves no oily gunk on your face, so your face feels pretty much the same after using the lotion, and with no clogged pores.
