This works great to use with my hair blower/air brush as I can control my hair better while styling. You only need a small amount depending on how long your hair is. It works for me! Try it to see if it works for you! I use the shampoo, conditioner also.


My wife loves this stuff. I have to go out and buy it regularly. she says it is the best stuff for her hair she has found and money is not in the equation.


Pureology blow dry amplifier is a liquid that has a great control without being sticky or heavy. I have very fine short hair, and it works great. Used like a gel after washing.


I really do like this product. My hairdresser suggested I try it and it is wonderful.


I use the Pureology Serious Colour Pure Volume Shampoo and Blowdry Amplifier together. I get so much volume out of my hair with moderate effort. I love this product line! I like the smell it reminds me a little of Aveda. I think the blowdry amplified gives me a little shine and also helps prevent blowdry damage. I am a fan!

A little about me: my hair has a little bend but is mostly thick yet fine in texture. I have it cut in a mod bob that is just below the chin with lots and lots of texture. I like to amp up the volume and then get a Meg Ryan messy look (a little more refined though).

I have very fine, VERY straight hair that clings to my scalp like a frightened animal at the first sign of moisture in the air. Pureology Volume Shampoo works unbelievably well and my hair has much more body than before, and it's also VERY soft and shiny. I noticed other reviews saying that it smelled bad. The smell reminded me of men's aftershave--not a bad smell, but unusual, and it doesn't last after you dry and style your hair. Better than products that claim to have the essence of this or that flower, smell pretty, but do nothing that they claim to do! This product also doesn't strip your hair oils like some do, which leads to healthier hair in the long run. And my bottle has lasted for a very long time! But most important, it is not tested on animals!


After spending a lot of money on the Pureology Volume Shampoo and Conditioner, I can say that I am extremely disappointed.

After using these products, my hair is dull, heavy and feels greasy.

I had been using the Graham Webb HALO products and should have stuck with them. I realize now that they are the best for my colored hair.

Pureology is way over-rated. Definitely not worth the money.

I LOVE this shampoo, I just wish it wasn't so expensive. On the other hand, it does last a long time because you don't have to use much and it works up an amazing lather. My hair is super-clean, not stripped, and full of body. I highly reccommend if you have fine, color-treated hair that needs some volume!


I searched the internet for shampoo for fine/color treated hair. My hair fades hair color rapidly. I was glad that I came across this one. It has held my color better than other shampoos. Although it costs more than the usual shampoos it only takes a little to make alot of lather. However I was not impressed with accompaning conditoner.


I was looking for a shampoo that would give volume to my hair. This product was disappointing. It's not any better that the shampoo I'm already using for half the price.


When I first read about this, I thought, volume AND moisture - perfect. And I love their colour care condition - smells minty and light and wonderful - but this stuff smells absolutely horrible. I almost gagged every time I tried to use it. Plus it made my hair icky feeling and looking the very next morning. Wish I could send it back because it is expensive to just be thrown away.


It's expensive... but it goes a long way and really seems to keep the color longer.


Based these reviews I decided to give this a try. The shampoo is very thick and squeezes out in a ribbon. I read not to use too much but forgot the first time and my hair foamed into a big poofy mass of thick, rich lather (lesson learned). I love the way my hair looks, feels and moves. The price is ridiculous but I am a believer and while I can afford to get things like manicures and pedicures I will also be buying this little luxury.

My hair is in good condition, color treated, straight and fine but full. I use this is combination with the Pureology volume conditioner or hydrate conditioner and top it all off with Bain de Terre Recovery Complex.


This product is expensive but worth the cost due to it's excellent volumizing and shine.


With my fine, stick-straight hair, I had given up on volumizing products that never worked. I bought this primarily to slow down my color fade and--O, Happy Day!--this product actually does what it claims! I used the shampoo and conditioner as directed and let my hair air dry. No styling, no additional products, and my hair looked noticeably fuller, soft and shiny. My color seems to be staying in much better than it did when I was using other shampoos, so I think it's worth the money.

Update, 06/20/2008
Still using the original bottles that I bought back in March, and still really liking it. With other shampoos, my color faded quickly and looked brassy. I can use this every day with very little fading--there will always be some--so I'm happy, and a little goes a long way. Between the small amount needed to get my hair clean and shiny and the money I save on touching up my color, I think it's worth it.

It doesn't dry my hair out, but can be a little heavy. My hair is thick, full but fine. Nice smell. Lasts a long time.


I have used this product for several years and it is a great cure for dry and damaged hair.

Like many women, I am very picky about my hair. (I have baby fine highlighted and lowlighted hair, but a lot of it.) I tried the Pureology Hydrate after it was recommended by my colorist who promised it would help my hair retain that fresh from the salon color.

Of all of the pureology lines, the hydrate has the least offending scent. I tried samples of all of the pureology lines, before purchasing the hydrate line and many of the pureology products actually smell terrible, which made it hard to use on a daily basis. However, the hydrate line's conditioner has a minty smell (think aveda's rosemary mint fragrance). I have used this product for the last three months on a daily basis.

After daily use for two weeks, I felt that my hair had a film, a residue. My hair felt like it had an enormous amount of product in it, when I hadn't. I would then have to use a clarifying shampoo such as Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo. When I asked my colorist about the film, she stated it is because the pureology hydrate line is geared for people with seriously damaged hair and is fabulous for healing such damage. She admitted that if your hair is very healthy, then it can be a bit much for daily use.

I gave this conditioner three stars for the following reasons: (1) the residue, and (2) this conditioner is expensive for the what you actually get. If you're willing to pay this, then pay an extra $5 and get the kerastase bain satin.

On the positive side, (1) this product is 100% natural and (2) my color did look fabulous.

Currently, I am using the Redken Color Extend and feel this product works just as well for my color, smells better, and is more reasonably priced.


I LOVE the pureology hydrate line. I have been using this personally and selling this to my clients for the past two years, and it is my favorite for most people. The only people I don't recommend this for, are those with ultra healthy, fine hair, as it can weigh your hair down if your hair is too fine.

There are no sulfates, which is HUGE. That means, that it is super gentle, and will not allow your color to fade. If your color does fade while using this, then your hair is too porous and you might consider using a protein treatment every shampoo, for about a week prior to your next coloring. I suggest tried and true, CAT Protein by Redken. Just spray it on, work it around, and allow to sit while you shave your legs, or just relax. It will feel in all of the hole that have been "eaten" out of your hair by bleach, or damage. Finally, continue using pureology and your hair will feel great!

I recommend this for all of my clients with the following hair types:

Naturally Curly
wavy
Permed (please tell me that there are not very many of you out there that still perm)
Highlighted
Colored
Dry
Brittle
Environmentally damaged
Heat damaged
Thick
Coarse
dull

Please don't use very much, as it is extremely concentrated. Put a quarter size dollop (or less) in your palm, and emulsify it in your hands, then gently pat it down the top layer of your wet hair. Then start to massage it in, and within a minute, it will start to "melt" through your hair, and soften it. If you have trouble getting it out of the bottle, because it is so thick and concentrated, tip it upside down and tap the bottle against the palm of your hand, and it will all drop to the top, so that you can squeeze it out. Then when you are almost finished with your bottle, add a bit of water to it, and shake it real good, you will then be able to utilize every bit of the product!

Enjoy the invigorating scent! I do have a few clients that don't love the smell of the menthols at first, but am told that it grows on them in time. I also love how it makes my body tingle from the menthols as it rinses from my hair.

This is a must buy for almost all!

My HG, hands down. I have tons of fine hair, so it's very thick but also fragile. I have to use a heavy duty Elchim dryer if I want my hair to dry in less than an hour, so it gets a lot of heat. It is also color treated, so it can be very dry and hold lots of static. After a recent phase of strightening it every day, my poor hair was fried! And even with all this abuse, the Pureology conditioner still manages to make my hair look healthy and shiny. Unlike other conditioners, it doesn't weigh my hair down, nor does it make it look dull. I love the minty fragrance (it contains peppermint oil) as it makes my hair smell fresh and clean for days. So okay, it IS expensive, but you don't need to use very much of it to obtain amazing results. If you have damaged/frizzy/thick hair, give Pureology a whirl -- it really works!


I have been using this product for over a year and it is a wonderful everyday conditioner that goes extremely well with Pureology Colour Care shampoo. This product won't fade your hightlights and won't dry out your hair. I like the nice tingly feeling and the scent isn't overpowering either.


I have been using the companion Pureology Serious Colour Care, Antifade Complex, Hydrate Shampoo for about a year and have noticed that my color/highlights last longer than with other colour care shampoos but this conditioner has really made a difference in the colour and texture of my hair. I have a few red highlights (hardest to keep) that haven't faded at all in 4 months. This conditioner makes my hair soft, easy to comb through and able to hold a curl better than any other I've tried and the minty scent and sensation start my day on a positive note!


Does a great job when used with shampoo. Leaves no residue and protects color.
