Customer Buzz
I recently purchased this Braun Electric Shaver from Amazon. Through the last fifty years, I have owned many electric shavers. Without hesitation, I declare this shaver to be the finest I have owned. Without much effort, it provides a shave as good as obtained using a blade. It is well designed, attractive, and functional (without needless frills and adjustments). I have never taken the time to rate any shaver; this is worthy of my time and effort. The operating time per charge is longer than rated by Braun. I enjoy a week of shaves per charge.

I purchased this shaver about one year ago, so I have alot of experience with it. I think it is a terrific value. The best thing about it is how long the battery charge lasts. Since I don't shave on weekends and always start the week with a blade shave, one charge can last one month. The shave is very close. In most areas, it is pretty close to a blade but cant compete on the neck areas. After a year, the shave is still great and the charge lasts as long. The charge also lasts long in the cold, since I left it in my car to shave on the way to work for a month. No real downsides at all. You're supposed to change the foil and blade at 18 months but I will see how long I can go.

I did not like this razor from the day I turned it on. Too loud. lots of vibration. So I did not use it. Biggest let down was the company in which sells it on Amazon. That would be Discount Jungle. Beware of buying from them. They will charge 15% restocking no matter what. I return the razor unused like new. Didn't matter 15% anyway. Very rude costumer service, when you e-mail or call. I will NEVER buy from them again.

I bought this shaver for my boyfriend this past Christmas based on the reviews on Amazon and in Consumer Report. I was going to get him a Norelco, but he said he wanted a foil shaver and not a rotary because that is what he's used to. So far, he really loves it. It provides a really close, comfortable shave and is easy and fast for him to use. He hasn't had a problem with going over the same area of his face over and over again like some other reviewers, but I think that depends on how thick or long your facial hair gets. His only complaint is that it tends to tug at his hairs a little bit at times, but he said he has gotten used to it. I read somewhere online while researching what shavers to buy that it takes about a month to adjust to a new shaver, so a little irritation and tugging is probably to be expected at first. It is quite noisy, but it doesn't seem to bother him. It's not perfect like others on here have said, but it does the job wonderfully for the price. Makes a great gift for the guys. :)

Did not shave as well as Norelco. Easy to use and clean but left some whiskers which eventually got long and obvious.

Good product for the price.Shaves well.
Noisier than typical shaver. Location of On/Off button is such that it is too easily bumped and thus turned off during shaving, so you wind up grasping shaver in unnatural manner (to avoid touching the Off button).

I had serious doubts about switching to electric but I figured, what the heck - its under $40 and people seem to like it. Overall, its an awesome product. One thing I'll say is that it took me at least two months to get used to. Also, if you have a tiny washbin get ready to clean up afterward (tiny cut hairs). But in terms of closeness and convenience, you can't go wrong with this thing. Recommended

My frustration with this shaver is how long it takes to get the job done. You have to repeatedly go over and over the same skin in order to get all the stubble, whereas an "old-fashioned" disposable, multi-blade shaver that is used with shaving cream usually requires only one, maybe two passes.

The other limitation of this shaver is that it does poorly with anything other than short stubble. If the hair is an eighth of an inch or longer, you have to cut it down to size with the attached trimmer, then go back to it with the shaver. You have to use the same process with a hair that is lying flat against the neck.

In conclusion, I would NOT buy this style of shaver again. My next shaver will be another Norelco with rotary blades.

Absolutely the best low cost electric razor available. Extremely close, comfortable shave. Good ergonomical design. Not the best, but absolutely the best for the money. No other brand can touch it in this price range.

When my last electric razor stopped working, I had to purchase a new one. The Braun model I had previously owned was no longer being manufactured. However, since I had such a good experience using that Braun electric razor, I looked for the Braun model currently available that was closest in style and features as my last razor. That Braun electric razor that was closest to my last one was the Braun FreeControl 1775. This shaver is very similar in size and style as my old razor was. It also has some of the same features: a long hair trimmer, foil protection cap, and a rechargeable power cord.

In addition to the usual dry brush cleaning method, the Braun FreeControl 1775 also has a shaving head that can be cleaned by rinsing with soap and water. This was a feature I was really looking forward to as the shaving head of my previous electric razor could not be cleaned this way.

I have been using the Braun FreeControl 1775 Shaver for about three months now and though it is similar in size and style as the previous Braun electric razor I owned, it is not a very good electric razor at all. With my old Braun razor I was able to usually shave in five minutes or less, even if I hadn't shaved for 7-10 days. It now takes at least twice as long for me to shave each morning. The main reason for this is that the 1775 doesn't shave very close to the face and it takes 2-4 times shaving over the same area before that area is smooth. Even doing that, the 1775 doesn't cut all the hairs on one's face; I usually have to go back over my face with a regular razor after using the 1775 because of the random hairs it misses.

The 1775 is a nice looking razor, but it just doesn't do the job very well at all.
